Dry Filtration

The pharmaceutical industry is a fast-moving sector with new products seemingly being developed and patented on a seemingly daily basis. Whilst production volumes are typically on a smaller scale compared with other manufacturing industries, the processes and associated applications seen in this market are no less interesting or indeed challenging.

The separation of airborne particulate matter from gas streams is very often an integral part of these processes e.g. drying, milling, with the bag filters employed and the filter media therein being responsible for the collection of saleable product. Very often the dusts being collected carry a significant commercial value and their effective containment is therefore of obvious concern to the plant in question.

Coating of dusts is not uncommon and these coatings can often lead to some challenging filtration applications involving non-agglomerative free-flowing dusts. Contamination of product is another area of concern for operators in this market with the use of PTFE filter media being widespread.

This range of advanced filter media by Lydall Industrial Filtration has been developed to meet the unique challenges of the pharmaceutical industry.
